The Apostolic Team

There are many things we do together as a family of churches. To facilitate and oversee what we do together we have an Apostolic Team (The word Apostolic comes from the Bible describing people who care for and have a passion to see God working beyond a local church). Those on the Apostolic Team are:

phil norrisPhil Norris (team leader)
Phil is married to Helen and they have three children and a dog! He grew up in Basingstoke and returned after University in Bristol to work for BCCs. He enjoys thinking about the new shape of Church for the 21st Century and studying the Bible. Phil loves running, being outdoors and visiting coffee shops! He used to play the violin but not anymore! Phil is part of Hub Community Church, and is the Apostolic Team leader.


Gary Bastin
Gary and his wife Marianne have three children. He has worked for BCCs since 1989 and now leads Hope Community Church. He loves graphic design, watching movies, running, listening to and playing music. As he’s getting older he is developing a liking for classical music, much to his children’s horror!


jon coombsJon Coombs
Jon (or Jono) has three children and is married to Elaine. He loves nothing more than being with people in a relaxed atmosphere such as a bar BQ on a hot summers day! Originally from Kent, Jono moved to Basingstoke where he led North BCC for a time. After attending Bible College they moved across town to lead South BCC. Jono plays guitar and would love to be in a band!


Hazel Marchment
Hazel has two grown up children. She was married to Dave until he died tragically from Leukaemia in 2002. She has served BCCs for many years and continues to do so! She loves being around people and longs to see more of God’s supernatural power to be released! She enjoys listening to Jack Johnson, Jamie Cullum and Norah Jones and she once danced with a monk in a Cathedral! Hazel is part of Hub Community Church.


Robin Mendelsohn
Robin is married to Margie and they have three children. 2014 was a big year for Robin as he took over the leadership of North BCC and came on church staff too! He spent many years as a Financial Advisor. Originally from Lancashire, Robin moved to Basingstoke to be part of the BCC. Robin is part of the Basingstoke ‘Healing on the Streets’ team, and longs to see more of God’s healing break out. He is now part of Hub Community Church.


earl robinsonEarl Robinson
Earl is happily married to Rebecca. Originally from the USA he moved to the UK to lead West BCC after studing at Bible College. Living now in Overton, his desire is to for each person to know who they are in Christ and as a result be as effective of a Kingdom builder as possible. He enjoys rock, worship, metal and country music, playing guitar, watching and following American sports, playing board games. 


andy taylorAndy Taylor
Andy has been part of BCCs for many years. Married to Diane they have two grown up children and three grandchildren. A scientist by training Andy now gives himself to supporting and encouraging inter-church projects across Basingstoke.  When he has time he loves to support Chelsea. Andy is part of Hope Community Church.


diane taylorDiane Taylor
Diane, married to Andy has worked in BCCs for many years. She used to do the accounts for the church, but now she serves as a local councillor as well being involved in many community projects in Basingstoke. She loves classical music, especially opera as her dad was an opera singer! She also loves caring for elderly people and just enjoying their company. Diane is part of Hope Community Church.


Dan Wake
Dan is married to Emma and they have two girls. He has been part of BCCs for over 25 years. He studied at the Salt & Light Bible College and also has a Diploma in Theology, fuelling his love for the bible. Dan is passionate about seeing the church engage with culture and for faith to connect with the whole of life. Dan is part of Hub Community Church and also has roles within BCCs. He loves Chinese food, visiting coffee shops and spending time with friends!


Greg Whittick
Greg lives in Tadley with his wife Sue where he leads the Tadley Community Church. They have two grown up children. Greg has worked in business for the last 35 years. In 2009 they spent a ‘gap year’ studying at Regents College in Vancouver where they were able to go whale watching. They are looking to serve and work with God to advance his Kingdom in Tadley.


Andy Wright
Andy met his wife Tracy in Southampton and got married in 2005. They moved to Basingstoke in 2009 and have two young children. When he was younger Andy wanted to be either a PE teacher or a Policeman, and he ended up doing the latter for 12 years. He enjoys swimming, being outdoors, cycling and camping. Andy is the leader of Hub Community Church.
