Christ is still in Christmas

7th December 2011

This week I have been reading The Christmas Story. It's an incredible account of God breaking into the world of ordinary men and women around 2000 years ago. It’s a story of great joy and hope as this baby, King Jesus, was to grow to become the saviour of the world!

Unfortunately today the reality, meaning and truth of what happened back in Bethlehem is often overwhelmed by present buying and wrapping, festive decorations and too much food and drink! All of this can be fun, but seems a long way from the first Christmas! In the midst of the excited busyness of Christmas may you discover the real meaning. The Bible says this about the birth of Jesus...

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.
