Key House - week beginning 1 March

building project logoOn Friday 5 March 2010 we completed the purchase of Key House! The following Sunday we had an 'Open Day' for people to visit and look around Key House. There was a steady stream of people from across BCCs. It was great to finally be in the building we have been praying for such a long time.

Below are some pictures of what Key House looked like when we purchased it. We shall update the website regularly as the building transforms from 'office block' to a 'learning community' home...

 Ground floor

The 'sold sign' says it all!

Key House overlooking our car park. We will turn some of the car park into a recreational space.

kh6

kh5

This area will be filled in to create music, art and craft rooms.

 kh8

This fire escape will be replaced by a new one (who is that man waving?). The fire escape and corridor will be moved to the other side, so that classrooms are on the non-sunny side. This and solar reflective glass, plus opportunity for opening many windows should keep temperature pleasant without Air Con. The existing Air Con is not suitable for the new design and uses now obsolete refrigerant.

kh9

This room at the front will be for special needs.

kh10

This will become the drama room -  the largest single room in Key House.

First Floor

kh11

First floor stair well.

kh13

This area shall become the headteachers office.

kh12

This area will include the school secretary's office.

kh14

This will become a photocopying area, main corridor and staff room.

kh15

This will be divided into class rooms/tutor base, with a linking corridor running the length of the building. There will be new carpets. Glass areas, doors, door frames and cupboards to be kept for re-use. The rest of the existing partitioning to be removed.

Second Floor

kh16

Second floor stair well.

kh17

kh18

This hugh space will be divided into two lecture rooms, a clean and dirty lab, a 'prep' area, food technology room and a classroom/tutor base. The food tech and lab on this floor gives easy venting through roof!
