Look up and listen

7th February 2018

This week I have been reading Psalm 19. It was written by King David and could be titled ‘The Glory of God’!
This poem begins proclaiming God’s glory revealed in the sky above...

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the skies announce what his hands have made.
Day after day they tell the story; night after night they tell it again.
They have no speech or words; they have no voice to be heard.
But their message goes out through all the world; their words go everywhere on earth.
Psalm 19:1-4 The NCV Bible

David boldly states that the silent ‘heavens’ speak. The unending universe, the 300 billion stars and the daily rhythm of the sun and moon arcing across the sky are visible for all to see. And for King David this majestic ‘canvas’ points to a creator God, the intelligent designer! There was no question in David’s mind that the ‘heavens’ were formed by God. Today, there are a variety of views and beliefs on the origins of our universe. Some say that all we see and know was formed out of nothing. Christians believe what The Bible says, that God is the author and creator of this awesome universe. Next time you are out on a clear evening, look up and listen...
