Power of prayer...

27th July 2018

I read this in Daniel this week:

‘Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.’
(2:20-22, NIV)

As a people called to live by faith– ‘the evidence of things not seen’ (Hebrews 11:1, KJV). We are to live lives shaped more by what we cannot see, but know to be true, rather than by how things appear to us and prayer is one of the things God uses to remind us of this reality. When we pray to God we declare that we want Him, and His reality, to shape and define our lives and we call for help from the one who has power not just over our lives, but over times, seasons, rulers, and kings. The one who reveals His wisdom and plans at just the right time – as we see perfectly in Jesus Christ. Let us be those who pray for His kingdom to come and for His will to be done.
