Tadley Pastor moves to Africa
4th October 2010
On 5th September, Tadley Community Church said farewell to its pastor whose family left for Africa on the following Tuesday. Tim and Rachel Monger have served Tadley Community Church for the past eight years, and the church has grown steadily during their time. Their quiet leadership and influence will be greatly missed. The farewell morning consisted of some African-style worship and a commissioning from Emmanuel International, the organisation with which they will be working in Africa.
The Mongers, together with their daughters Amisadai and Louisa, will be working on some development projects in Tanzania, including rainwater harvesting and introducing fuel-efficient stoves to the villages where they will be working. Tim, who is also a well-respected Bible teacher, will also probably undertake some teaching in a local Bible College.
The commissioning service was followed by a lunch and some entertainment, as well as the presentation of a book of memories to the family.
Tim has been in contact since their arrival in Tanzania, and the family has settled in well, and are now coping with learning Swahili and all the challenges of living in a completely different culture.
